The ribbing of this fan is made of bone, nicely pierced and carved, decorated and lacquered by hand. The fan has a double cotton leaf which features, on the recto, a beautiful painting representing a pastoral scene, and on the verso, a complementary painting representing a landscape with a tree (not shown here). The size of the unfold fan is about 51 by 27 cm (20 by 10 ½ inches), and when closed it is 27 cm (10 ½ inches) long.
